Connecting to a Coolscope or DS-5M-L1 camera
The following describes how to directly connect a computer to either the DS-5M-L1 or Coolscope digital cameras through a network card.
1. Use a crossover network cable. In MS Windows open the DOS window From the DOS prompt type: ipconfig This will tell you the IP Address and Subnet Mask of the PC you are connecting to. for our purposes the "connection specific DNS suffix" and the "Default Gateway" are irrelevant.
For example:
connection specific DNS suffix....micron-optics.com
IP Address....................................192.168.091.246
Subnet Mask.................................255.255.255.0
Default Gateway...........................192.168.2.1
2.Go to the Network settings menu in the camera and change the internal server Subnet Mask in the Nikon camera to the same Subnet Mask as the PC you are using.
3. Make the internal server IP Address in the Network Settings menu of the Nikon Camera the same as the IP Address for the PC except for the last digit.
IP Address....................................192.168.091.247
Subnet Mask.................................255.255.255.0
4.Save the changes in the camera. Power the camera off and on. Type the IP Address for the camera in the address bar of Internet Explorer and hit enter. The camera image and controls should appear in your internet browser.
